What is Bolt.new?
It is a new AI tool that can build entire full stack applications for you, anything you can imagine and the best part is that you don’t need to
write any of the code yourself, you can just talk to it in plain English. It gives you the ability to turn any idea you have into a working apps in a matter of minutes. For example, you can make a software from a chess.com clone to a QR code generator and both of these were made in a matter of minutes instead of days/weeks of the software development cycle.
bolt.new is super easy to use, you literally just type text prompts the same way you would do in ChatGPT, so there is no prior programming knowledge required. The APP does the entire process for you, and that’s the biggest difference, bolt does the full stack development process from building front-end & backend database and finally even helping you deploy it.

Let’s get started on the demo part:-
For this demo, let’s try to build an AI tutor for Android. We first start by providing any demo AI tutor app, for instance in this case it is the “Q-Chat” with an example interface as shown below.
Next, we login to the bolt interface and provide our requirement as shown below. We provide the screenshot of Q-chat interface template as example and ask it to build some similar APP.
Next, it provided the following response as shown below. As seen it provided a response using NativeScript along with all the required files.
Finally, it provided an explanation of the developed Tutor APP as seen below.
Since I wasn’t clear with my requirement earlier this time I asked it develop it in Kotlin programming language (which is Google’s preferred language for Andriod APP development) instead of NativeScript as seen below.
Further, I also asked it to provide the code structure to test it on Android Studio as seen below.
And at the end, I asked it to test and deploy the provided code for which the response provided is as seen below.
Now that we have walk through the illustration, let’s see what this service offers in terms of free tier and membership plan. Bolt.new offers some service with a free account, but there is a cap on the token limits. The different offerings provided are as seen below. For example, with a “Pro” subscription one can get 10 Million token usage provision at a cost of $20/month.
Setting up Bolt.new + Any LLM of your choice
Further, one can also use bolt.new with any preferred LLM. This fork of Bolt.new allows you to choose the LLM that you use for each prompt! Currently, you can use OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama, OpenRouter, Gemini, LMStudio, Mistral, xAI, HuggingFace, DeepSeek, or Groq models, etc. Follow the instructions in the reference notes for running this locally and extending it to include more models.
